Terms of Use

Effective September 25, 2026

The short version

  • What you record and create is yours. We never get a copy.
  • Only record where you're allowed to, and respect other people's rights.
  • AI notes can be wrong. Check anything important against the recording.
  • Recording and transcripts are free. Pro is billed by Apple, and you can cancel any time.
  • Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law.

Agreement

These terms apply to the Centi iPhone app, its widgets and extensions, Centi Pro, and the website at centi.app (together, "Centi"). Centi is made by Martin Mirchevski ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Centi, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Centi.

If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf. You must be at least 13 to use Centi.

Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Centi app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, redistribute, sell or rent the app, except where the law explicitly allows it.

Your content

Recordings, transcripts, notes, flashcards, quizzes, photos, documents and anything else you create or import in Centi ("your content") belong to you, or to whoever owns them. We claim no rights over your content. Because it is stored on your device and in your own iCloud, we never receive it.

You are responsible for your content and for having the right to record, import and use it. Lecture materials and recordings may be protected by copyright owned by your instructor or institution. Centi is intended for personal study. Don't publish, sell or distribute recordings or material derived from them unless you have permission.

Recording lectures

Laws and institutional rules about recording differ widely. Some places require consent from everyone being recorded, and many universities and instructors have their own recording policies. You are solely responsible for making sure every recording you make is lawful and permitted, including getting any consent required. Don't use Centi to record private conversations or anyone without their knowledge where that is not allowed.

AI-generated material

Transcripts, notes, summaries, flashcards, quizzes and answers are generated automatically by on-device speech and language models. They can contain mistakes, omissions or misattributions, especially with poor audio, technical vocabulary or accents. Timestamps link back to the recording so you can check.

Acceptable use

Don't use Centi to break the law, infringe anyone's rights, harass or surveil people, or to interfere with the app, the website, or their security. Don't attempt to bypass purchase checks or usage limits.

Free features and Centi Pro

What's free

Recording, on-device transcription, reviews, quizzes, streaks and exports are free. AI study material (notes, flashcards and quizzes) is free for your first 3 lectures. Anything you generate stays available to you even if you never pay, or stop paying.

What Pro adds

Centi Pro unlocks unlimited new AI study material and other Pro features described in the app. It's offered as a yearly subscription (with a free trial for eligible new subscribers), a monthly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Current prices are shown in the app and may vary by country, currency and taxes.

Billing, renewals and cancellation

Refunds

Because Apple processes all payments, we can't issue refunds directly. You can request one from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. This does not affect any statutory rights you have, such as withdrawal rights under EU or UK consumer law.

Lifetime purchase

"Lifetime" means for as long as we offer and support the Centi app, on the Apple Account used to buy it, including Pro features we add in the future. It doesn't guarantee the app will be available or compatible forever.

Restoring purchases

If you reinstall Centi or get a new device, tap Restore Purchases in the app while signed into the same Apple Account.

Device requirements and availability

Some features depend on your device, iOS version, language and region. AI-written notes need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence; on other iPhones, Centi uses its offline engine, which produces simpler results. We may add, change or remove features over time and will try to give notice of significant changes to paid features. We don't guarantee Centi will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Your data and backups

Your content lives on your device and, if you enable it, in your iCloud. We don't have a copy, so we can't recover anything that is lost or deleted. Recordings can fail if your device runs out of storage or battery, or the microphone is blocked. For lectures that matter, keep iCloud or device backups on and export what you want to keep.

The website

You may browse centi.app for personal, non-commercial purposes. The website is provided for information about Centi, and prices or features described there may differ from what's in the app in your region; the app is authoritative. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we're not responsible for their content.

Our rights

Centi, its software, design, mascot, name, logo, and the content of the website are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These terms don't give you any right to use our trademarks. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Centi is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that recordings will always succeed, that transcripts or AI material will be accurate or complete, or that Centi will help you achieve any particular academic result.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, recordings, grades, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use Centi. Our total liability for any claim relating to Centi is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Centi in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Centi at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your license if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. When these terms end, you must stop using the app, but the sections on your content, our rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law continue to apply. Ending the terms doesn't automatically cancel an App Store subscription; cancel that through Apple.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts of [COUNTRY], except that if you're a consumer, you can also bring proceedings in the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of any mandatory laws of your country of residence.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them to a successor of Centi.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Centi or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If Centi fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Centi. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to Centi, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Where these terms don't address something, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app about material changes before they take effect. If you keep using Centi after that, the updated terms apply. If you don't agree, stop using Centi and cancel any subscription.
